capitalism & highway robbery

Capitalism at its heights can sometimes bring about sales tactics that are scarily close to downright highway robbery.

To be a man

My youthful vitality was taken away
not by anyone , but by my own
inability to cope with change
and by my remorse that gnawed
at me for two thousand days.

Angry as I am, I vow to myself
to let go, to loosen up and take things
as they come my way
to learn to duck at the right moment
and to jump into the communal pool.

To ask myself to be happy
to not remember the ugly portions
of my past and to keep looking
for things that shine;
which is taking a toll on me.

I look into the pool and see my reflection
my face lined with scars
some healed some still burning
to touch some, to bring out a flood
of memories loaded with emotions.

and to realize, with all the thoughts
that run through my head,
with the heavy breathing and the
furious pumping of the heart
I have become a man.

love and pragmatism

To continue with what Thomas Sowell said “.. It may be a sign of our times that
everyone talks openly about sex, but we seem to be embarrassed to talk about
love…” , it seems as though life has become too pragmatic in these modern times to have room for something like love – a sad state of affairs if it’s actually the case.

Fishing, and wishing on fragments

The music flowing out of the radio
sounds so empty and hollow
and devoid of any emotions
that I am looking for right now
among with other things that
I can connect to and relate to
and and make a bag out of
to put all my memories in
to stick my hand in and
to pull out a fragment that
makes me feel like I
want to keep on fishing.
